The genus name for goldenrod, Solodago, means ‘to make whole’ and refers to its reputed ability to promote wound healing. It has also been used in Europe to help with urinary issues. Goldenrod was used as a substitute for English tea during the American Revolution*. Goldenrod has an astringent, spicy, bitter flavor.
We wild craft Goldenrod in a nearby grazing lease where it grows deep roots and captures the goodness of the Alberta sun.
